Work to do at home during the holiday
English Home Language
Repeat the sounds EVERYDAY. * Show the sounds to the learner and they must say the sound. * Ask the learner to write the sound that you are saying.
Practice to write, sound and read the p-words:
Read the sight words everyday (The learner must know these words, the learner can’t sound them).
Read the reading piece everyday:
The fat cat sees the hot pot.
I can not kick the fat hen.
The hen is on the nest.
Count EVERYDAY using the counting chart (learners must see the numbers in front of them), from 0-30 and backwards from 30-0.
Use your counting chart to ask the learner what number comes before and after a given number.
e.g. Put your finger on 5, now show me what number comes after 5 = 6 comes after 5.
Practice to write the number names everyday up to six:
one two three four five six
Learn the family bonds of 10 (repeat, repeat, repeat until the learner knows it).
10+0=10 9+1=10 8+2=10 7+3=10 6+4=10 5+5=10
Thank you that you are willing to do extra work with your child!
